Sunset Ridge March 2019 Newsletter – Volume 1 No. 1
We know it has been a long, long, long winter to this point but we have made it to March and spring is inevitable (we think)!
Thought it might be a good time to share a bunch of information with you regarding the upcoming season.
For the first time in the last several off-seasons we are glad to report that there was NO WATER DAMAGE in the clubhouse!! The magic formula seems to be keeping the heat on!
We are happy to introduce John “J” Yanchisin as our new golf course superintendent. Scott Winkelman accepted an offer from Well’s College at their 9 Hole course and we wish him well. J has been with our company for 2.5 seasons at Lyndon Golf Course in Fayetteville. He got his start in the 80’s as an assistant superintendent at Bellevue Country Club and has a wide variety of experience having managed such courses as Beaver Meadows and Radisson Greens. He also was part of the construction and grow in crew at Timber Banks. J attended SUNY at Cobleskill and majored in recreational land management and received a bachelor of science from West Virginia in recreation and park management. He also attended the turf grass management short courses at Cornell University.
When he is away from the course, J enjoys spending time with his family. He enjoys outdoor activities, watching college sports and attending the races at the local short tracks. J is also an assistant scout master and member of his troop’s aquatics staff and teaches non-swimmers during the winter months. J is looking forward to his new role at Sunset Ridge and providing outstanding golf conditions. His motto is “always improve”. Welcome J!
The proshop staff returns our Head PGA Golf Professional Wade Malicky. Wade is now in his 4th season with our company! Unfortunately our 2018 assistant PGA professional Mark Flurschutz will not be returning as he has ventured back into the business world as an insurance salesperson with Aflac. We wish Mark well and if you have any insurance needs we would be glad to get you in touch with him. The kitchen returns our Chef Chris Ellison.
